Cardinals Running Back Situation In Shambles

The Arizona Cardinals have been hit harder than anyone by the injury bug in 2022, and it's no more present than in their running back group, as they finished their Week 5 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles with just one healthy back in the former of starter James Conner. Today, the team has confirmed that Darrell Williams will be out in Week 6 with a sprained knee, and Jonathan Ward will be heading to the Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury, and with an injury cloud over Conner too, it's an absolute nightmare for this Cardinals running back room.

To get around this, Arizona have signed both Corey Clement and Ty'Son Williams to the practice squad, but if Conner can't go, you would have to imagine that this offence would become very one dimensional with a passing attack. DeAndre Hopkins is scheduled to come back from a suspension soon, and Conner should be getting healthy, so if the Cardinals can stay afloat, they can fight back in the NFC West very soon, but for right now, it's about as bad as it gets at one position.

Conner has added 300 all purpose yards and a Touchdown through five games, but if the Cardinals are to challenge Philadelphia, Dallas, Green Bay, Tampa Bay and the NFC heavyweights later in the year, they'll need to figure out a way to establish a more balanced attack, but that may be hard in Week 6.
