Patriots Aggressively Trying To Trade For Wide Receiver; 4 Players Linked

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers catches pass during 2025 game.

The New England Patriots are back in the AFC mix and the wide receiver market is on the front burner.

Multiple reports suggest the Patriots are aggressively exploring a wide receiver trade before the November 4 deadline, and the list of potential targets ranges from proven stars to high-upside fits.

That fits with Drake Maye’s surge and a front office that appears willing to add another pass catcher to keep the offense trending up.

Patriots WR trade options start with Chris Olave

Insider Albert Breer has pointed to New Orleans Saints receiver Chris Olave as a name to monitor for New England, noting Mike Vrabel’s Ohio State connections for added intel.

Olave’s contract control and route precision would check boxes for a team seeking a long-term piece. The price will reflect his upside and any decision will factor in his concussion history. If the Saints pivot to selling, the Patriots figure to be on the phone quickly.

Plan B board: Jakobi Meyers, Rashid Shaheed, DeAndre Hopkins

A reunion with Las Vegas Raiders receiver Jakobi Meyers would give Maye a trusted chain-mover who wins from the slot and outside.

Rashid Shaheed brings field-stretching speed and return value if the New Orleans Saints shop expiring deals. DeAndre Hopkins offers veteran savvy and contested catch production if the Baltimore Ravens listen on a reshuffle.

Each option helps in a different way, so New England has a lot of options to pursue leading up to the November trade deadline.
