NFL Rumors: Saints Shopping Pro Bowl Wide Receiver

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed reacts during 2024 game.

As the New Orleans Saints stumble to a 1–4 start, multiple reports confirm the team is actively exploring trade options for wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, one of the league’s fastest and most efficient deep threats.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Saints have drawn trade calls on several players, including Alvin Kamara, Carl Granderson, Pete Werner, and Dillon Radunz, but Shaheed is emerging as the most likely to move before the November 4 deadline.

Saints exploring Shaheed trade amid interest from contenders

Shaheed is off to a strong start in 2025, recording 22 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns through five games, while averaging 15.2 yards per punt return

His one-year, $4.2 million contract and upcoming free agency make him a prime rental option for playoff contenders seeking explosive speed and special teams value. Sources have confirmed that teams such as the Patriots, Bills, Steelers, and Chiefs are monitoring the situation closely.

Contract situation makes deal “complicated”

As Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reported, trading Shaheed is “complicated” due to his contract status.

Any acquiring team would need to extend him beyond this season to justify surrendering significant draft capital. Still, Shaheed’s blend of field-stretching ability and efficiency, including an 87-yard touchdown in Week 5, has made him a hot commodity among offensive coordinators looking to add a vertical threat before the stretch run.

Potential destinations for Shaheed

Contenders like the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Kansas City Chiefs all make sense as landing spots. Each could benefit from a deep-play receiver to complement their established cores. New England, in particular, has been tied most frequently to Shaheed as they push for an AFC East title behind Drake Maye.

If GM Mickey Loomis finds the right offer, the Saints could turn Shaheed’s breakout year into a valuable draft asset, and potentially accelerate a looming roster reset in New Orleans.
