NFL Rumors: Trevon Diggs Top Landing Spots After Being Cut By Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys Cornerback Trevon Diggs reacts during 2025 game.

Trevon Diggs is suddenly one of the biggest wild cards on the market after the Dallas Cowboys waived the two time Pro Bowl corner late in the season, a move that likely pushes him toward free agency if he clears waivers due to the contract mechanics.

Teams are going to have to decide if they are buying the 2021 star version of Diggs, or if they are betting the injuries and down year were the real story.

Trevon Diggs stats and accolades

Diggs is only 27 and his resume still pops. He was a first team All Pro in 2021 after leading the NFL with 11 interceptions, and he followed with another Pro Bowl level season in 2022. For his career, he has 20 interceptions, 63 pass breakups, and 240 tackles in 66 games.

The recent production is where it gets complicated. In 2025, he played eight games and totaled 25 tackles with no interceptions, and his coverage numbers were rough, including a 158.3 passer rating allowed when targeted and an 85% catch rate allowed per tracking data.

Trevon Diggs landing spots in free agency

Washington Commanders

This is the cleanest fit because of the Dan Quinn connection. Quinn was in Dallas during Diggs’ peak, so the pitch is simple: get him into a system and staff that already knows how to use him, then rebuild the confidence and the role. The Commanders also have real motivation to swing big if they feel their secondary needs a tone shift going into 2026.

Chicago Bears

Chicago makes sense because of familiarity, too, with Al Harris now coaching defensive backs there after working with Diggs in Dallas. The Bears also feel like the kind of team that would welcome a high upside gamble if they believe the issues were health and circumstance more than permanent decline. If Diggs wants a spot where he can play meaningful snaps right away, this is one of the most direct paths.

Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia is the sneaky contender fit because they do not need Diggs to be a savior. The Eagles have enough depth to keep his workload reasonable while letting him chase a ring and rebuild his value in a protected role. If Diggs is thinking short term reset with long term leverage, the Eagles offer the best mix of upside and lower pressure snaps.
