NFL Rumors: Eagles Predicted to Make Surprising Move With Dallas Goedert

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert celebrates during 2026 game.

Dallas Goedert just reminded everyone how much he can change an offense, and it still might not be enough to keep him in Philadelphia.

With free agency approaching and Philadelphia reshaping pieces of its offensive staff, league chatter has started to sound less like extension talks and more like the Eagles preparing for life after their longtime tight end, even after a strong 2025 that re-established him as a red-zone problem.

Eagles TE plans are shifting fast

Goedert finished 2025 with 60 catches for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns in 15 games, and he was a legit driver of big moments when the offense needed an answer.

He is 31, he has the reputation of being banged up year to year, even though he stayed on the field this season, and Philadelphia has a list of upcoming bills that extends well beyond one position group.

That tension is why some projections have his market looking surprisingly soft, which only adds to the weirdness of this storyline because if his price truly lands in the bargain range, keeping him would be an easy call if the Eagles actually wanted him back.

Draft buzz and coaching changes hint at a replacement path

The smoke gets thicker when you look at how aggressively the Eagles appear to be mapping out contingencies.

All three tight ends from last season’s depth chart are headed for free agency, and Philadelphia has already made a notable coaching change at the position by moving on from its tight ends coach while bringing in a new run game coordinator who also inherits the tight ends room.

At the same time, mock draft chatter has connected Philadelphia to Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq as a potential first-round target after his 2025 season that included 560 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, the kind of production and athletic profile that screams “replacement plan” if the front office believes Goedert is walking.

Philadelphia has been here before at tight end, too. Goedert was the 49th pick in 2018, and the Eagles were confident enough in his upside to eventually move on from Zach Ertz and hand Goedert the keys.

Goedert is a proven starter, a reliable middle-of-the-field target for Jalen Hurts, and a player who just posted the best touchdown season of his career. That combination usually does not hit the market quietly, even if Philadelphia is ready to.
