Rams' Right Tackle Announces Retirement After 11 Seasons.

Rob Havenstein is calling it a career.

The Los Angeles Rams right tackle announced his retirement, ending an 11-year run as one of the franchise’s steadiest starters and the last remaining player who suited up for the St. Louis Rams before the move to Los Angeles.

At 33, he walks away with a Super Bowl ring, two contract extensions, and a reputation inside the building as a captain-level leader even when injuries made the final stretch messy.

Havenstein’s Rams legacy is bigger than the starts

A second round pick in 2015, Havenstein stepped in immediately and never really gave the job back, starting all 148 of his regular season appearances for the Rams while anchoring the right side through multiple eras.

He was part of the Sean McVay turnaround teams, started in two Super Bowls, and was on the field for the Super Bowl LVI title run, with coaches and teammates consistently pointing to his toughness and voice in the room.

McVay praised him as a steadying force and elite leader, while general manager Les Snead framed Havenstein as a blueprint example of what the organization wants its players to be.

What the Rams do next at right tackle

Havenstein’s final season was cut short by ankle and knee problems that limited him to seven games and kept him from returning even after his practice window reopened late in the postseason.

The Rams now look positioned to hand the job to Warren McClendon, who impressed while filling in and is being viewed internally as the next man up, but the bigger question is how aggressively they protect that plan.

Even if McClendon is the starter, Los Angeles still needs depth and a contingency option, especially after watching how quickly injuries can flip the offensive line.

Havenstein leaves the franchise near the top of the Rams’ offensive line record books, trailing only legends like Jackie Slater and Orlando Pace in tackle starts.
