Former Bengals' Playoff Hero Announces Sudden Retirement

Logan Wilson has officially called it, bringing a sudden end to a very quietly productive linebacker's NFL career.

The former Cincinnati Bengals standout announced his retirement at age 29, leaving the game after six NFL seasons that included playoff highs, a Super Bowl appearance, and a late-career stop with the Dallas Cowboys.

Logan Wilson retires after strong Bengals run

A third-round pick in 2020, Wilson quickly developed into a core piece of the Bengals’ defense, starting 65 games and piling up over 540 tackles along with 11 interceptions.

His peak came during the Bengals’ run to Super Bowl LVI, where he delivered one of the defining moments of that postseason.

His interception against the Tennessee Titans helped send Cincinnati to the AFC Championship, and from there, the team went on to capture the AFC title.

Cowboys stint marked final chapter for Wilson

The final chapter of Wilson’s career came quickly and was a bit rocky.

After being named a team captain in 2025, he was eventually benched and dealt to the Dallas Cowboys at the trade deadline.

Dallas gave up a late-round pick, hoping he could help stabilize their defense, but the fit never fully materialized.

Wilson appeared in seven games with the Cowboys, recording 20-plus tackles and a forced fumble, but started just once.

He was released shortly after the season, clearing cap space and ending his time in Dallas that ended almost as quickly as it began.

Wilson posted four straight 100-tackle seasons from 2021 through 2024 and was a consistent playmaker during his prime.
