NFL Rumors: Rams Explored a Surprising Trade

The Los Angeles Rams may have taken a far bigger swing than anyone realized.

While the headlines around AJ Brown focused on Los Angeles trying to land the Philadelphia Eagles star, another potential move emerged behind the scenes: the Rams reportedly explored moving Davante Adams as part of another offensive move.

It was a surprising development given how productive Adams was in his first season with the Rams, but it also showed just how aggressive Los Angeles is willing to get this offseason.

Rams considered moving Davante Adams during AJ Brown talks

According to Pro Football Talk, the Rams were pursuing the possibility of trading Adams while they were in discussions about Brown.

That's interesting because Adams had a fully guaranteed $6 million roster bonus due on March 15, and once that was paid, it became much more likely he would remain on the roster along with his $18 million base salary for 2026

That helps explain why the Rams may have been exploring avenues quickly, especially if they were trying to make the money work for a receiving group that would have included Brown and Puka Nacua.

Adams had an immediate impact in Los Angeles, finishing 2025 with 60 catches, 789 yards, and an NFL-high 14 receiving touchdowns, despite missing the final three regular-season games.

ESPN also noted last month that Sean McVay was “absolutely” expecting Adams back in 2026, which made the trade chatter feel even more out of left field.

Rams sent a clear Davante Adams message after rumor surfaced

Not long after the report gained traction, the Rams appeared to push back in their own subtle way.

The team posted a video of McVay enthusiastically introducing Adams to the team last year, and while that does not officially disprove the report, it did feel like Los Angeles was sending a message about where things stand now.

With the AJ Brown talks cooled off and Adams’ bonus paid, the Rams look set to move forward with the veteran wideout still playing a major role in their offense.
